The VCF Foundation collaborates in the Za’atari and Azraq refugee camps in Jordan
Valencia CF, through the VCF Foundation, is once again collaborating this season by donating sports equipment to the Za’atari and Azraq refugee camps, both located in Jordan, as part of the LALIGA Za’atari & Azraq Social Project. This project is carried out by LALIGA’s Sports Projects Department and the LALIGA Foundation, with the collaboration of AFDP Global (Association Football Development Programme).
Since its launch in 2018, interest in this socio-sporting program has continued to grow, establishing it as a benchmark initiative within the international third sector. Its aim is to use football as a tool to transmit the positive values of sport and to empower refugees to improve their psychological well-being, resilience, and the way they relate to others.
In the 2025–26 edition of the football competition, which is organized alongside the project and will be held in a regular league format followed by playoffs, more than 400 boys and girls will take part. They will be divided into 42 teams competing in 166 matches across both camps.
In Za’atari, the program includes 286 boys and girls, organized into 26 teams playing 106 matches. In Azraq, 144 boys and girls will participate, divided into 16 teams competing in 60 matches.
Once again this season, the activity is carried out using the proprietary “Values to Win” methodology, which awards 10 points per match: 3 for sporting merit and 7 for socio-educational merit, promoting values such as fair play, respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
This scoring system not only measures performance on the pitch, but also attitudes and behaviors that support the holistic development of the young participants.
